Andrews, North Carolina is on the center line of the path of totality and will see 2 minutes and 39 seconds. Since the portion of North Carolina within totality is small, the Moon’s shadow will pass quickly. The total solar eclipse first touches North Carolina at 2:33 p.m. EDT and exits at 2:49 p.m. EDT.

On Monday, August 21, 2017, the universe will reveal itself in an epic show more astonishing than anything ever devised by the magic of Hollywood or Disney. The Sun, Mother Nature’s multi-gigaton, 24/7 nuclear inferno in the sky, is going to put on a show. This will be the first US coast-to-coast total solar eclipse in 99 years, placing totality within an over-night drive of 320 million Americans.

Total solar eclipses are rare occurrences at any given location. The last one visible from anywhere in the continental United States was in 1979, in the Pacific Northwest. That’s why the August 21, 2017, eclipse is a Very Big Deal. It will offer an estimated sixty-five million people the chance to participate in this celestial phenomenon.

This occasion will not only provide a teachable moment, it will also be an extraordinary experience that can’t be appreciated through video or photographs. You really do have to be there!

Learn what an eclipse is and why it’s so special, and the thrill of seeing a total solar eclipse, There are activities you can do with children to help them (and you!) understand what is happening in an eclipse. Feel the call to help the children in your lives witness this exciting, potentially life-changing spectacle.

Learn what gear to take, including eye safety filters, binoculars, and how to get the best pictures from your camera or smartphone.

The shadow of totality will carve a 2,527 mile path across U.S. territory–never touching land in any foreign country–making it the first ever “All American” Total Solar Eclipse. Beyond this narrow shadow of totality–about 60 miles wide–everyone else in the continental US will see a partial solar eclipse. This promises to be the most viewed and photographed eclipse in human history.

Viewing a total solar eclipse is an emotional experience that should be on everyone’s bucket list. In 2017 the eclipse will occur in our collective “backyard,” an ideal time to take loved ones on an adventure of a lifetime.

There will be many activities planned in town, including food, music, beer, and wine at Hall Park on First Street! Hall Park activities are organized by Andrews Brewing Company, Calaboose Cellars, Hoppy Trout Brewing Company, and FernCrest Winery!
